About the Find & Replace Tool
Bulk find-and-replace saves significant time whenever a word, name, or phrase needs to change consistently throughout a document — updating a product name after a rebrand, fixing a repeated typo, or swapping placeholder text with final copy across a long draft.
This tool replaces every matching occurrence across your entire pasted text in a single action, rather than requiring you to manually locate and edit each instance one at a time.
Two matching options give you precise control: case-sensitive matching ensures "Apple" and "apple" are treated as different terms when checked, and whole-word matching prevents your search term from matching as a substring inside a longer word (so searching "cat" won't accidentally also match inside "category" or "scatter").
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this replace all occurrences, or just the first one?
All occurrences — every instance of your search term throughout the entire text is replaced in a single operation, not just the first match.
What does "whole word only" actually prevent?
Without it, searching for "cat" would also match and replace the "cat" inside words like "category" or "scatter". With whole word matching enabled, only standalone instances of "cat" as a complete word get replaced.
Can I search for a phrase with multiple words, not just a single word?
Yes — enter the full phrase exactly as you want it matched in the Find field, such as "free shipping", and it will search for that exact sequence of words.
What happens if my search term isn't found anywhere in the text?
The tool will simply return your text unchanged, since there's nothing matching to replace. No error occurs — the output will be identical to your input.
Can I replace text with nothing, effectively deleting it?
Yes — leave the "Replace with" field empty and every match of your search term will be removed from the text entirely, rather than replaced with different text.
Is my text uploaded anywhere during find and replace?
No — the entire operation happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to a server.
