About the QR Code Generator
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that encodes text data — most commonly a URL, but also plain text, contact details, or WiFi credentials — in a pattern that any modern smartphone camera can scan and decode instantly without needing a separate app.
This tool generates a QR code directly in your browser from whatever text or link you enter, updating live as you type, with control over the output size and color to match your branding or print requirements.
QR codes are widely used on business cards, printed flyers, product packaging, restaurant menus, and event materials to bridge from a physical object to a digital destination — anywhere you want someone to quickly reach a link without typing it manually.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I encode in a QR code besides a website URL?
QR codes can encode any plain text, including phone numbers (using a tel: prefix), email addresses (using mailto:), WiFi network credentials in a specific formatted string, or simply any block of text you want someone to be able to scan and read.
Will my QR code expire or stop working?
No — a standard QR code generated this way encodes the data directly and doesn't rely on any external service to keep working, so it won't expire. If it encodes a URL and that URL later goes offline, though, the QR code will still scan correctly but lead to a broken link.
What size should I use for a printed QR code?
Larger is generally safer for print, especially if it will be scanned from a distance — a QR code on a large poster needs to be bigger than one on a small flyer someone holds close. Always test-scan your printed material before mass-producing it.
Does the color of my QR code matter?
Yes — QR codes need strong contrast between the code color and its background to scan reliably, so dark colors on a light background (or vice versa) work best. Very light colors or low-contrast combinations can cause scanning failures.
Can I add a logo to the center of my QR code?
This version generates a standard QR code without logo embedding. Adding a logo requires using a higher error-correction level in the encoding so the code still scans correctly with part of the pattern obscured — a feature not included in this simple version.
Is the text or URL I enter uploaded to a server?
No — the QR code is generated entirely in your browser using a JavaScript library. The content you enter is never uploaded, logged, or sent anywhere.
