    Random Text / Password Generator

Generate strong random passwords or strings with a custom length and character rules — uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.

Security tip: a longer password with mixed character types is exponentially harder to guess than a short, complex one — aim for at least 16 characters where the platform allows it.

    How to Use This Tool

    01

    Set your desired length

Drag the slider — 16+ characters is recommended for strong passwords.

    02

    Choose character types

Include uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols as needed.

    03

    Set how many to generate

Get several options at once to choose from.

    04

    Click "Generate"

Copy your chosen password directly from the list.

    About the Random Password Generator

A strong password's resistance to guessing and brute-force attacks comes primarily from two factors: length and character variety. Every additional character and every additional character type (lowercase, uppercase, numbers, symbols) included multiplies the number of possible combinations an attacker would need to try.

This tool generates cryptographically random passwords using your browser's built-in random number generation, with full control over length (from 4 to 64 characters) and exactly which character types to include, so you can match whatever specific requirements a website's password policy demands.

Generating several options at once lets you quickly pick one that looks right at a glance (some people prefer to avoid ones with easily-confused characters like "l" and "1", for example) without needing to regenerate one at a time.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long should my password be?

Longer is better — 16 characters or more is a solid modern recommendation where the platform allows it, since each additional character exponentially increases the number of possible combinations an attacker would need to try to guess it.

Should I include symbols in my password?

Including symbols adds meaningfully to password strength by expanding the character set, but some websites and systems restrict which symbols (or whether any) are allowed — check the specific platform's password requirements if your generated password gets rejected.

Is this password generator actually secure and random?

It uses your browser's built-in random number generation to select characters, which is suitable for generating everyday strong passwords. For extremely high-security use cases, a dedicated cryptographic random number generator (like those built into password manager software) may offer additional guarantees.

Should I use the same generated password for multiple accounts?

No — using a unique password for every account is one of the most important security practices, since it means a breach of one account's password doesn't compromise your other accounts. A password manager can help you store and use unique generated passwords for everything.

Is my generated password sent anywhere or stored?

No — password generation happens entirely in your browser using local JavaScript, and nothing is ever stored, logged, or transmitted anywhere. Once you close or refresh the page, the generated passwords are gone.

Can I use this to generate random strings for something other than passwords, like an API key or test data?

Yes — the same character-set controls work for generating any kind of random string, whether that's a password, a placeholder API key for testing, or a random identifier for a project.
